Oral Tradition & Pop Culture Symposium

After 43 years of passionate and dedicated work, Harold Scheub, Evjue-Bascom Professor of Humanities, announced his retirement at the end of the Fall 2013 semester.

Professor Scheub’s career will be celebrated with a Festschrift symposium featuring scholars influenced by his work. A light breakfast will be served.

Celebrating Fifty Years

2014-15 marks the Department of African Languages and Literature’s 50th anniversary. The year will include a number of exciting events:

  • Alumni research talks throughout the Fall
  • A festschrift symposium and celebration for Harold Scheub, 31 October
  • A graduate student conference in October, hosted by SALL
  • An alumni weekend symposium in April
  • The Towards African Cultural Studies conference in May
