Alumna Meg Skinner invites you to join her and family for a Memorial Service/Celebration of life for the late A. Neil Skinner, her husband and long-retired professor of African Languages and Literature.
A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held Labor Day, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. for African Languages and Literature Professor A. Neil Skinner at the Friends Meetinghouse, 1704 Roberts Court (behind the Monroe Street Associated Bank). All are invited to share stories about Neil out of the silence of a Quaker Meeting. A potluck lunch to
follow will give an opportunity to visit with Neil’s son Simon and his wife Sue Gifford, and Neil’s daughter Evelyn, visiting from New Zealand, and Meg and Neil’s son Ben, from NYC.
Neil Skinner passed away March 7, at age 93, but the service was delayed to accommodate the long-planned visit of NZ son Simon and his wife. All are welcome, whether you have a story to share or just want to learn more about Neil’s long life. He taught Hausa language and literature from 1966 until his retirement as Professor Emeritus, and published some 16 books, including three dictionaries.
