Eric Wafula is a PhD student in the Department of African Cultural Studies at UW–Madison. He earned his MA specializing in Applied English Linguistics from the Department of English at UW–Madison. Originally from Kitale, a diverse town in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, he is fluent in English, Swahili, and several Luhya dialects. Before beginning his graduate studies at UW–Madison, Eric was a Fulbright scholar at Yale University, where he taught Swahili and participated in cultural exchange initiatives.
