Novelist, essayist, and photographer Youssef Rakha discusses his work from recent years, including his newest book, The Dissenters (Graywolf, 2025). Rakha will read from his English prose and address current developments in Arabic fiction, a field in which he has published some of the most important novels of the last two decades. Please join us for a conversation about World Literature, translation, Egypt’s political history, and visual culture.
