The annual African Languages Film Festival presented by the Department of African Cultural Studies at UW-Madison celebrates the creativity, storytelling, and cultural richness of students working in African languages.
This year’s festival showcases a vibrant collection of short films created by students of Arabic, Swahili, Yoruba, Hausa, and Sierra Leonean Creole, highlighting diverse voices and perspectives from across the African continent. Each film reflects not only linguistic skill, but also a deep engagement with culture and community, demonstrating the power of language as a vehicle for artistic expression.
Join us for an inspiring evening of film that uplifts student voices, fosters cross-cultural understanding, and honors the beauty of African languages on screen.
All are welcome with no cost for admission.
