Congratulations to Jacqueline-Bethel Mougoué, whose book (Gender, Separatist Politics, and Embodied Nationalism in Cameroon, 2019) received 1st Runner Up/Honorary Mention of the 2023 Africa Studies Association of Africa’s (ASAA) Pius Adesanmi Memorial Award for Excellence in African Writing.
Jacqueline’s book was unanimously selected out of 22 competitive submissions by a jury; who found her book to be “excellent in terms of intellectual quality, an excellent example of African writing, which will make a significant contribution to the field of African Studies, and of sound theoretical, conceptual and methodological innovation.”
