Jacqueline-Bethel Tchouta Mougoué, Associate Professor of African Cultural Studies, recently published a new article in the Journal of Women’s History examining the life and legacy of Cameroonian journalist, filmmaker, and pilot Thérèse Sita-Bella.
Titled “‘Wonders and Miseries of a Woman Who Refuses to Be a Woman’: The Transnational Lives of a Pan-African Feminist,” the article explores Sita-Bella’s life and work through a transnational and Pan-African feminist lens. Sita-Bella is widely recognized as a pioneering figure in African journalism and filmmaking, and Mougoué’s current research project focuses on her life and legacy.
Mougoué has also recently joined the editorial board of African Studies Review, the official journal of the African Studies Association.
