Kimathi wa Muthee


Kimathi is a second year PhD student. He earned his Bachelor of Education degree in Swahili Language and Literature from the University of Nairobi in 2012 and holds an MA in Popular Culture from Bowling Green State University and another in African Cultural Studies from UW–Madison. His research interests center on language use in various socio-political issues in literature and in society. His dissertation research investigates Sheng with the aim of gaining better understanding of it as a language variety as well as getting insight on its users and their social, political and cultural contexts.
